No dustwrapper (as published). [Note: the first editions of King Penguins up to K46 (1948) did not have dustwrappers. When (if) they were reprinted after 1948 they had wrappers.]
Covers slightly dusty, with bumped corners and some rubbing to the edges. It looks as though the spine cover (with c. 1cm missing) has been glued back, having previously been taped: there are six marks that look like tape residue on the covers. Hinges rubbed full length.
Unlike other King Penguins the text and illustrations appear on all pages, which are clean. Both free end papers are foxed.
The is an inked inscription on the front fep.
